Taiwan is looking to attract more Indian travellers by promoting fly-cruise holidays combining stays on the island with cruise itineraries covering Japan and South Korea. The initiative comes ahead of EVA Air’s planned launch of direct flights between Delhi and Taipei on December 1, 2026.
The Taiwan Tourism Administration (TTA) is working to strengthen cooperation between airlines, cruise operators and Indian travel companies to develop multi-destination holiday packages for the Indian outbound travel market.
Paul Shih, Director of the TTA Singapore Office, said India holds significant potential for Taiwan, adding that cruise tourism could introduce travellers to the island while allowing them to explore other destinations across Northeast Asia.
Naresh Rawal, Senior Vice President for India and the Middle East at StarDream Cruises, said the planned air connection could create new opportunities to combine visits to Taiwan with cruise itineraries covering multiple countries.
The initiative was highlighted at a recent TTA tourism promotion event in New Delhi, attended by Indian travel industry representatives and media. Six supplier partners participated, including four Taiwanese destination management companies, StarDream Cruises and EVA Air.
The TTA also offers a complimentary half-day transit tour service for eligible international travellers, subject to flight schedules and applicable entry requirements, allowing visitors to experience Taiwanese culture, neighbourhoods and cuisine during transit.
