Enigma (2023-2025) is a Thai Horror Series following mysterious events in the world that normally go unnoticed by people. Ajin seeks to find the real culprit behind these mysterious events and traces it to a high school.
Enigma 1: The Beginning
Ajin is a skilled practitioner of magic who aims to investigate the Enigma. Fa is a senior year student trying to figure out the unsettling things happening around her are about. What happens when they team up?
Further, Enigma 1 has the perfect balance between the traditional, which is the origin of magic across all cultures, and modern tech.
Notably, the series won three awards, including Best Cinematography (Supawat Morakotamporn & Tin Guyson), Best Editing (Krich Towiwat, Putthipath Akhharacharoenhiran, Therawit Srisiri), and Best Promo or Trailer at the Asian Academy Creative Awards 2023.
The series has a great plot, incredible acting and stunning cinematography that doesn’t fail to keep up with the story. Besides, there are also a lot of action scenes.
Additionally, at one point in the story, Fa leads Nam into a trap, confident that she will still be able to save her friend. However, she’s become too strong. She’s so deep into Enigma that she’s carved occult symbols into her own face, giving her much more power than she’s had previously.
A diligent student, Fa remembered Ajin’s teachings and how he pulled her out of a dark possession. She is able to save him. In turn, Nam saves Fa. With the influence of dark magic gone, life at school returns to normal, which means Ajin returns to his own world. Though Fa loves him, he can’t take her with him. Ultimately, the series ends with the head of Enigma saying that soon they will meet face to face. Cue- Enigma 2!
Black Stage: Ajin Vs. Evil
The series, starring Win Metawin and Toey Jarinporn, won “TV Drama Series of The Year” at the Thailand Box Office Awards 2025 on March 3, 2026.
Moreover, during auditions for the remake of “The Bloom and a Thousand Bees,” the competition for the lead role intensifies as a covert group watches closely. Little do they know, a dark secret connected to the play threatens to unleash an power.
Ajin teams up with Plengpin in this sequel to catch the Enigma and end their control over the dark world. Set in the entertainment industry, it focuses on an acting survival show. Further, the winner walks away with a leading role in a drama series. There is a chance to debut and perform in a particular traditional dress that was kept hidden from the world.
Enigma captures the truly gore and violent evil into a short series, pulling the audience into the world of deceptions. It forces us to think of ourselves in the situation, would we have escaped? There are some series in the industry where the audience feel that they could have escaped better or saved themselves before the characters in the series. Whereas, Enigma is not one of them. From the First episode to the last second, we root for the characters and try to anticipate what happens next.
Thus, Enigma is a refreshing horror series that ties in the concepts of black magic, survival, and gore in one setting. It is definitely worth a watch!
