Each episode of the MBC’s The Perfect Crown has brought forth another exciting angle to the story. While Yi-An and Seong Hui’s dynamics have left fans mesmerized, the story has taken an interesting turn. At the royal engagement, a certain someone feels betrayed, and on top of that, the prime minister also expresses his feelings for Seong Hui. The accident that changed the entire scenario soon is going to bring a love triangle between the prince, the prime minister, and Castle Beauty CEO Seong Hui. Let’s dive into the details about the episodes.
Seong Hui’s courage influences the Grand Prince, but does this signify a turning point in the relationship between Jeong U and the Queen? (Ep 5–6 Recap)
The Grand Prince moves mountains to save his nephew and Seong Hui. The accident that could have brought a drastic turn in their lives somehow gave them a chance to confront their feelings. At the beginning of episode 5, the grand prince is deeply hurt, yet he manages to safeguard the young king and Seong Hui. The queen, shocked to hear the news, rushes to see her son. The Prime Minister, Jeong U, who was present at the event, provided the Queen with details about the event and reassured her that the young King’s condition was absolutely fine and without injury. On the other hand, the shock left Seong unconscious with minor injuries, and Yi-An had to undergo surgery for his shoulder, which was heavily impacted by the collision.

The queen demands that Seong be removed from any royal activities, while Jeong calms her down. He reflects on the conditions that might bring the stain to the crown and asks her to choose wisely. Seong wakes up seeing the young king beside her. Upon seeing him, she immediately checks him for injuries, but the young king assures her that he is fine. Later, he tells Seong about his uncle, who underwent the surgery. Seong reaches the room and sees Yi An with the prime minister. While the entire incident seems suspicious, the grand prince orders an investigation, and the prime minister duly abides.
While Seong is in recovery, Jeong U asks her to break off the engagement and marry him instead, as many eyes are on her, whether envious or vengeful, who want her to be away from Yi-An. This is the first time Jeong shows concerns for Seong, revealing his feelings for her. At the palace, Seong learns that the engagement is off, and her stay is also ended by the prince. Upon being asked why he is doing this all of a sudden, Yi-An says he wants to safeguard her from any incidents like what happened a few nights ago. This makes Seong furious and leaves without a word.

Seong’s father and brother both see that due to her accident, the stocks for Castle Beauty are crashing. They accused Hui of her carelessness, and this made her more upset. Without asking if she is fine, they worry about the company; this makes Hui lash out at them, and she leaves. Later, Yi-An tries to contact her, but she refuses to answer. A royal ceremony is organized for many nobles and royal highnesses by the queen, and Seong, too, is invited, but she refuses to come. Later, the grand prince confronts her about her stoic behavior, to which she asks Yi-An to protect what he loves rather than leaving them be. This gives Yi-An strength for the first time in years to face his fears and choose what’s right.
Later in episode 6, the man who tried to hamper Seong Hui’s car happens to be a member of the Castle Beauty and is now mysteriously dead. The queen, who still wants Seong to be around the grand prince, is also trying her ways to get rid of her. The ceremony that she had is her way of showing how lowly she is in class, but Seong knows how to handle it. At the ceremony, she enters the royal dining hall in all white, amazing the crowd and the queen. While she is being dragged on a sunny day, the grand prince accompanies her with the crowd and later takes her out to feel better. In the evening, the royal ball is set, and both the prince and Seong enter the ball, attracting attention.
They dance as if in a fairytale, and later Yi-An proposes to her with her mother’s diamond. This shocks the queen and prime minister, since they knew this would end. While Jeong U is contemplating the event, he curbs his thoughts and promises to be with Seong till the end. On the other hand, the queen once again tries to humiliate Yi-An with his past, but this time Seong intervenes, and both share a lovely moment at the yacht.
Both episodes showed the past and present challenges faced by Seong and Yi-An as they tried to keep it as real. Though their plan is to just be as predictable as they can be as the couple in the media’s eyes, both are simultaneously falling in love. While the cupid seems to have hit them, a strange turn of events is surely going to change their fondness. Stay tuned to know more.
