The Absolute Value of Romance is slowly gaining popularity among fans. The story starts simply with a high school teenager, Eui Ju, dreaming of becoming a BL writer, but it soon evolves into a comic and more intense narrative. Eui Ju is determined to make her novel We Were Friends the epitome of BL love stories, while her math teacher unwittingly gives her new ideas that inspire her writing, even as he starts to unravel her biggest secret. As Eui Ju’s desire to maintain her hidden identity collides with her teacher’s involvement, a slow-burning love triangle emerges within her story. Let’s get into the details of the episodes.
Second Lead Ga Su Rises While Eui Ju Hesitates—Is She Ready for Him? Episode 5–6 Details Explained
Ga Su’s passion for math is making Eui Ju’s life complicated. Although Ga Su wants Eui Ju to enjoy math as much as he does, Eui Ju just wants to focus on her writing, making math her biggest obstacle, as pushed by her homeroom teacher. While the tension between Ga Su and Eui Ju reaches a balance, Eui Ju fears her secret life as a BL writer may be discovered. In episode 5, Ga Su tries to convince Eui Ju to love math for his own satisfaction and to follow the teacher’s wishes, but Eui Ju feels this pulls her further away from her next chapter of We Were Friends. As her fans eagerly await, Eui Ju struggles with obligations—extra math classes and chores—which only add to her frustration.

While Mr. Ga sees the assignment as a perfect project, Eui Ju wants to write her next chapter. The material is ready, and so are the two lovebirds from the novel, awaiting getting together. Ga finds Eui alone and catches her with her next big revelation in the novel. He sees and reads everything she has written, but despite revealing her identity, he wants his character to take center stage. The love between the two characters (the PE teacher, who is the obsessive character, and the Korean literature teacher, the soft guy) is quite blooming, but now this is going to change with math taking the lead.
At first, she thinks it’s a bad idea, but then, when Ga seems to give away her ideas to take the lead, she is now in limbo. Episode 6 focuses on Eui Ju, who is in desperate need to fill this gap, and also, not to offend the reader, requires a real solution. On the other hand, Ga is now seeing what Eui sees. The closeness with friends makes him sick, and still being the character in Eui’s novel, he wants to be the main character. The next venture of We Were Friends is slowly becoming a reality, but before that, a real-life experience is about to enter the school.

A TV show is soon to shoot at the school for a documentary, but Ga Su rejects the offer. His friends want him to happen, but he seems to run away from this. Also, Eui found a loop that she can dodge Ga into ruining her novel with. The series has quite an engaging hook to the story, and now something more is hinted at in the upcoming episode. Stay tuned to hear more.
