Azure Spring brings a new wave of sea breeze this summer. It is set on a quiet seashore island that seems to embrace many wounded hearts of people torn apart by fate. Two quite distinct people meet here: An Na and Dear Hye-Ri, Beyond Bar and Flex Cops starrer Kang Sang Jun as Deok Hyeon. Both are disturbed by their unfavorable fates. They meet in this small seashore land, where life offers more than they wished for. As the series progresses, they feel the deep sea’s quiet.
They try to navigate their lives through diving, understand their complicated lives, and mend them for the better. On one hand, An Na gives up everything after an injury leaves her unable to swim. Deok Hyeon seems to hide from the sea for a reason. He believes time will heal, but he himself is not healing. Both end up together under one roof. Slowly, time begins to heal their wounds through balanced, refreshing sea dives. Let’s get into the episode details.

An Na and Deok Hyeon Begin On The Wrong Foot, Yet The Sea Slowly Brings Them Closer As They Heal From The Past : Episode 1–4 Explained
On a bright, sunny day, An Na enters her hometown with a smile. She wants to refresh her mind and visit her mother’s home. Memories flash before her eyes as she sees her house. Unknowingly, her house is equipped with food and supplies. A tall guy with diving gear enters and makes her uneasy. She learns from the town chief that she is allowed to stay. Otherwise, her mom’s house would be empty and dusty.

She tries to be more welcoming, but Deok isn’t that interested. While she meets her annoyingly aspirational idol, Ko Ju Hee, she learns that he is a diver and quite unfriendly. While she tries to talk to him, he seems unbothered to know anything but knows that she is stealing his meals. An Na, who is a national swimmer, met with an accident and feared that life had done so much wrong to her. Fearing that she is craving her dreams, she is treated as a nobody and leaves when her boyfriend also sees her as being obnoxious to her career.
Not having any way to make it, she asks Hyeon to teach her diving. This may become a cause to reevaluate her dream and give it a go, but at first, she refuses, and later, when she drowns trying, Hyeon agrees to teach her step by step. Slowly, they start getting better both in diving and cooking; they finally give it a go, and they see the deep, quiet sea creatures, making them feel content.
A New twist Awaits in Azure Spring
While An Na seems to give her swimming a try, she is keen to know more about Hyeon. A man enters the scene who happens to be a military person, looking for Deok. At first, he is reluctant to say much, but later, in a drunken state, his friend reveals that he killed their friend Jae. An Na hears this but doesn’t know what to believe. Every day seems like a blessing for An Na, who still feels hazy about her career but wants to give it a try now with Deok; she feels refreshed and also, for the first time, feels closer to home and her mother, who was also a diver.
The series is absolutely captivating, and with sea sights making the slice-of-life series even more appealing, it’s off to a great start. This limited series has more layers than we know, so stay tuned for more.
