PM Narendra Modi on Saturday said India’s young population has become the country’s biggest strength. It plays a key role in driving growth across manufacturing, innovation and the digital economy.
The Prime Minister addressed the inauguration of the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Centre (Viveka Smaraka) in Mysuru. He said the achievements India has recorded in recent years, from semiconductor manufacturing and mobile phone production to startups and digital innovation, have been made possible because of the country’s youth.
PM Narendra Modi Says Youth Are Driving India’s Growth
Speaking at the event, Modi said India’s rapid progress in several sectors reflects the talent and energy of its young people. He noted that the country has emerged as one of the world’s fastest growing economies. It has developed the world’s third largest startup ecosystem and become the second largest mobile phone manufacturer. India’s digital solutions, he added, are also gaining recognition across the world.
According to the Prime Minister, these milestones have been achieved because young Indians are contributing to innovation, entrepreneurship and technological development at an unprecedented scale.
Swami Vivekananda’s Ideas Still Relevant
Referring to Swami Vivekananda’s vision, Modi said education, equality and service continue to be the foundation of nation-building.
He said today’s youth have come a long way compared to earlier generations. They are now contributing not only to India’s development but also to global progress. He stressed that equal opportunities in education remain essential for creating an inclusive society.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the growing use of Indian languages in professional education. He said students can now pursue courses such as medicine and engineering in their mother tongue. He said this is helping reduce language-based barriers in higher education.
PM Modi Highlights Growth in Medical Education
Highlighting developments in the education sector, PM Modi noted India now has around 1.4 lakh MBBS seats across 823 medical colleges. He described it as a major expansion compared to previous years.
He said the National Education Policy is helping prepare young people with the skills needed for the future while making education more accessible and flexible. According to him, educational institutions play an important role in ensuring that young people receive the opportunities and confidence needed to achieve their goals. They, in turn, help young people contribute to the country’s progress.
He said the centre should inspire future generations to embrace values such as discipline, service, sportsmanship and social responsibility. It will contribute further to India’s development.
What Lies Ahead
Modi said India’s future depends on how effectively it empowers its youth through education, opportunity and innovation. He expressed hope that the Viveka Smaraka would become a space where young people are encouraged to dream big, develop leadership qualities and actively participate in nation-building, while carrying forward the ideals of Swami Vivekananda.
