Defence Minister Rajnath Singh addressed the 27th Kargil Vijay Diwas event in Dras on July 26, 2026. He said Operation Sindoor proves India’s capability to respond decisively. Pakistan’s every misadventure, he added, will meet a response beyond its imagination.
Singh also ruled out talks with Pakistan. Any future dialogue, he said, will focus only on PoK. He called PoK an integral part of India under illegal occupation.
Operation Sindoor: No Talks With Pakistan, Says Singh
The minister stated that Pakistan no longer separates its military from militants. Terrorism, he said, has become part of state policy there. “Pakistan’s military shelters terrorist organisations and works with them,” he stated. He pointed out that Operation Sindoor changed India’s approach. India, he said, now treats terrorists and their backers as one entity. Consequently, any strike on India invites a strike on both.
Singh then contrasted India’s growth with Pakistan’s activities. India builds start-ups, he said, while Pakistan builds terror networks. Similarly, India develops chips and satellites, whereas Pakistan pursues infiltration routes. He warned that the armed forces stand ready if Pakistan blocks India’s progress.
The minister praised soldiers who died during the 1999 Kargil War. He remembered Param Vir Chakra awardees Captain Vikram Batra and Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey. Their sacrifice, he said, still inspires young Indians today.
Push For Self-Reliance In Defence
Singh linked Operation Sindoor to India’s Aatmanirbharta drive in defence production. He referenced Captain Batra’s famous line, “Yeh Dil Maange More.” According to him, India now manufactures 65 percent of its defence equipment locally. He listed indigenous platforms built under this push. These include INS Vikrant, Tejas, Prachand, Dhruv, and the Arjun tank. Akash-Teer and the next-generation Akash missile also featured in his speech.
Furthermore, Singh described Viksit Bharat@2047 as more than economic growth. He called it a commitment to strategic strength and cultural pride. Social harmony, he added, remains central to that vision.
During the event, Singh laid a wreath at the Cenotaph. He also inaugurated a Virtual Walkthrough Portal on the Kargil War. Later, he flagged in the “Shaurya Vijay Yatra” motorcycle rally. Several senior officials joined the ceremony in Dras. Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena and Army Chief General Dhiraj Seth also attended. Meanwhile, Minister Sanjay Seth paid tribute at the National War Memorial in Delhi.
