The Heart-warming Series
Duang With You is the kind of series that reaches into whatever mood you walked in with, shakes it loose, and replaces it with something lighter. It is equal parts chaotic and tender. This Thai BL university romcom leans fully into exaggeration, awkwardness and it works brilliantly.
Furthermore, the narrative moves with a lively, deliberate energy. Physical humor, heightened reactions, and playful sound effects build a momentum that is genuinely fun to fall into. It doesn’t try to be sophisticated. It tries to make you feel good. And it absolutely succeeds.
For a series this comedic in tone, Duang With You is surprisingly gorgeous to watch. The soft visual palette, steady directorial pacing, and a soundtrack that fits each moment create an atmosphere that carries both the lighthearted and the heavier moments with equal care. The cinematography never draws attention to itself, but you feel it. It brings a quiet, consistent warmth that holds the story together.
Duang With You: Romance and Friendship
From the day they met, Qin became Duang’s sole reason for existence. Some might be exasperated by his constant need to be around Qin. But ironically, his clingy nature becomes a balm to Qin’s abusive past. He has always been lonely and aloof. Being surrounded by Duang’s energy helps tear down those high walls that he has built over years.
Besides, the story heavily relies on the friends’ circle. Especially Duang’s friendship with Jamie (North Chatchapon). They fight like cats and dogs, but North would literally do anything if it made Duang happy.
Jamie’s romance with Mars (Otto Sorranan) is quite underrated.
They make a visual couple, have striking chemistry, yet the story didn’t properly visualize their dynamics (or maybe the actors weren’t comfortable doing kissing scenes).
