After updating her website with a countdown for 12:12 AM on August 12, Taylor Swift announced The Life of a Showgirl. A follow-up to her 2024 album The Tortured Poets Department and its extension, The Anthology, the album is set to become her 12th studio release.
Taylor! What a Surprise
In an unexpected turn of events, Taylor Swift has announced a new release. This album is set to become the follow-up to her 2024 album that became the first album to hit one billion streams on Spotify within a week of its released. Currently, Swift is in the running for the most No. 1 albums as a solo artist, tied with Jay-Z.
A post on Instagram gave a sneak peak of Taylor’s upcoming appearance on her boyfriend Travice Kelce’s New Heights podcast. In the brief snippet, the artist pulled out a mint green briefcase with her initials written in orange, claiming it to be her brand new album.

The release marks her first album since the conclusion of the artist’s record-breaking Eras Tour in December of last year. However, with no sight of an official release date, Taylor has made the album available for pre-order on her website.
This is Swift’s first new album since concluding her record-breaking Eras Tour in December. Moreover, it’s available for pre-order on Swift’s official website in physical vinyl, cassette and CD format.

Intriguingly, The Life of a Showgirl will be Taylor’s first release since becoming the official owner of her discography, six years since the sale of her masters.
