New Delhi, October 7, 2025 — The eighth edition of the North East Students’ Festival, NESt. Fest 2025, concluded at Talkatora Indoor Stadium after two days of celebration from October 3-4, cultural exchange, and youth dialogue. Organised by My Home India, the festival brought together more than twenty-five thousand students, artists, and leaders from across the country and overseas. The event carried special significance as it marked two decades of My Home India’s work in promoting national integration.
This year’s theme, From Culture to Climate: The Youth Mandate, reflected the growing awareness among young people about their role in building a sustainable and united future. Students had the opportunity to share ideas on social and environmental issues, while audiences experienced the vibrant cultural identity of the North East alongside performances from Odisha and Chhattisgarh. Folk dance troupes and music groups from the region captivated the crowd with their rich traditions and diversity.
The energy of the festival reached its peak during the evening concerts, with performances by Rito Riba, Shankuraj Konwar, Angelia Marwein, Lilac and Jacks, KL Pamei, and Tete Sapam. Their performances turned the stadium into a lively space of celebration, showcasing the growing influence of North Eastern artists on India’s cultural landscape.
Day One opened with a moving tribute to the late Zubeen Garg, the legendary artist whose music continues to define and inspire the North East’s cultural identity. His contribution was remembered by participants and guests alike, celebrating his legacy as a bridge between communities and generations.

A special highlight of the festival was a fashion show curated by designer Suresh Arubam, which showcased contemporary interpretations of traditional North Eastern attire, blending heritage with modern aesthetics.
Addressing the gathering, Smt. Rekha Gupta Ji, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi, said, “NESt. Fest is a festival of friendship, culture, and youth energy. I feel proud that Delhi gets to host so many young people from the North-East who bring their ideas, their talent, and their traditions here. Delhi is your city as much as it is anyone else’s. You have every right to study here, to grow here, and to shape its future. The Delhi government will always be with you, whether it is education, opportunities, or your safety. From the next edition, we will celebrate this festival together with the Delhi government in an even bigger way, so that the pride and contribution of the North-East is recognised the way it truly deserves.”

Shri Sunil Deodhar Ji, Founder of My Home India, told The World Times, “As we bring NESt. Fest 2025 to a close, I would like to once again pay a heartfelt tribute to Zubeen Da. One of the most inspiring takeaways from this event has been the confidence and clarity displayed by our young participants. They are not waiting for change; they are ready to lead the change, whether it is protecting the environment, strengthening national unity, or keeping cultural traditions alive. Their spirit and determination give us tremendous hope that India’s journey towards becoming a Viksit Bharat will be guided by responsible, aware, and committed citizens.”
NESt. Fest 2025 concluded with a message of togetherness and pride, reinforcing the Northeast’s growing role in shaping India’s cultural and civic narrative.
