India is set to host the first-ever Global AI Summit in the Global South, aiming to position itself as an emerging leader in global Artificial Intelligence discussions. Over 35,000 registrations have already been confirmed for the summit, scheduled to take place from 16–20 February in New Delhi. The event will feature a significant showcase of more than 500 startups and bring together CEOs, experts, and ministers from around the world.
A Global AI Summit

The summit aims to foster cross-sector collaboration and catalyse responsible, inclusive AI solutions that move beyond theory into tangible, real-world applications. Key industries such as healthcare, education, and agriculture will be central to discussions, as global leaders explore opportunities to deploy Artificial Intelligence ethically in order to maximise social impact.
In the past, such gatherings have primarily focused on developing frameworks and guiding principles. However, the AI Summit hosted by India seeks to bridge the gap between policy discussions and ground realities. It aims to deliver measurable outcomes in sectors such as agriculture, governance, and healthcare. The country also seeks to democratise access to AI, build a future-ready workforce, and promote indigenous technological innovation.
More recently, UN Secretary-General —António Guterres lauded India for taking the initiative and assuming a leadership role in addressing AI-related challenges ahead of the summit.
He expressed his delight at participating in the event, emphasising that Artificial Intelligence is not merely another technological issue but a defining global concern. According to him, AI has become one of the most critical subjects in international diplomacy, with implications that may shape geopolitics, economies, and societies for generations to come.
Mr. Guterres also noted that the esteemed panel would help separate facts from misinformation and serve as a credible reference point at a time when an unbiased understanding of AI is more crucial than ever.
