Following the announcement of a new album, Florence + The Machine have shared the title song for it, ‘Everybody Scream‘. It comes with a music video, and with an eeriness that departs from their usual sound.
First formed in 2007, Florence + The Machine have dabbled with multiple projects and have accumulated an extensive discography. Furthermore, as a collaborative effort between the headliner, Florence Welch, and other instrumentalists, the band has an amalgamation of sounds that befits the Rock genre.

The ensemble first topped the UK album charts in 2010, through their debut album Lungs. Perhaps the more famous single released and heard worldwide is ‘Dog Days Are Over’. The track was certified quadruple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Subsequently, it went on to become their most streamed song on Spotify.
The band last released an album in May 2022 entitled Dance Fever. Everything that followed was either a compilation, a remix, or both. So, when Florence + The Machine announced the release of a new album and then released a new track, all in the span of 48 hours, it certainly sparked intrigue.

Intriguingly, the music video is a haunting homage to Welch’s ‘on-stage’ persona. Symbolising it as an entity of sorts, she alludes to her wish to leave the music scene. However, her fans do not let her leave — their calls, their screams. Perfectly elucidated:
Look at me run myself ragged/Blood on the stage/But how can I leave you when you’re screaming my name?

One of the things I most like about Florance and the Machine is how they’ve evolved without losing anything of their essence. This is much more sophisticated than anything on Lungs, but if you slotted it into that album’s playlist it would fit right in.
Therefore, go and check out the new pre-release track by the artists. Don’t forget to scream, and surely, let us know what you thought about it!
