As Death’s Spiral and The Past Seek Forgiveness unfold, Kang Ju and the Scarecrow are drawn deeper into the mystery: Episodes 3–4 Explained
There is a deep secret that lurks in the village. A psychokiller who abducts women late at night has given a hint to the police, suggesting that he may be targeting specific individuals based on their vulnerabilities. While Cha Seong and Kang Ju are still struggling with their past trauma, another high schooler is killed. A bad name on Kang’s lineage has put him in a tough spot. Being bullied and then forming alliances with his bully seems to pull his trauma back to the present. The past and present times used in the story keep fans hooked, with older Kang interrogating the real killer and trying to confront him about how and when he committed all these crimes. In the past, Cha wanted Kang Ju to beg him for his help, but Kang didn’t want to let down his guard.

As episode 3 opens, Kang’s sister Sun is being dragged into this mess. Her past and childhood traumas left her detached from her brother, and now they are also ruining her marriage. The night when two incidents took place—on one side, Kang Sun met with an accident and was accused of stepping into her mother’s shoes—is about to be dragged into the killer’s next prey. On the other hand, the journalist was hit, but the killer’s face was caught on camera in the meantime. As both were recovering, Kang set off from the case. His intelligence could bring this to a close in a matter of hours, but powerful elites want Cha to take over and establish a name.
This is no longer an allied motive but a matter of pride now. Many lives have been ruined, and at this hour, the killer is planning his next girl, but things are not moving ahead. Kang needs to find the loop before anything happens, but the killer is on his way for the hunt. In the change of scene, Kang Ju and Cha Seong somehow try to undo their past mistakes. He is willing to work together, but what stops them is their past and how they both found out that their pasts are linked to one another.

In episode 4, all eyes are on Kang, with a subtle hint towards Gi Beom. The high school girl who was determined to catch the killer is targeted by the scarecrow homicide, and this time, Kang feels guilty of it. The last thing he said to the high schooler was that he must not give up, but the turn of fate has left him in agony and guilt-ridden. Fate changed both Kang and his fate.
On the other hand, Gi Beom is hiding from a simple mistake. He attacks the governor’s nephew, who hit Kang Sun, who is now hiding from the police. Sun, who broke off the engagement, now wants to escape with him. Before they can escape, Sun is captured, but in the meantime, Cha comes and saves her. Amidst this, he is shot, and the killer leaves without a trace. Geom is caught, so now who is the killer? In the earlier instances, Geom’s mannerisms suggested that he could have been the killer, but now it is supposed to be someone else. Each episode frames fans in a loop, and the case of multiple killings is soon to be revealed. Stay tuned to know more.
