BTS, the famous K-pop group, became the first Korean artists to receive the Presidential Commendation at the 5th Korea Good Donation Awards. The Ministry of the Interior and Safety hosted these awards, and organized by the Korea Council of Charitable Organizations.
Since 2021, the awards have recognized individuals and groups who inspire society through acts of kindness and giving, and have promoted a mature donation culture by sharing various examples of good deeds. This achievement is directly tied to BTS’s impactful “Love Myself” campaign, launched in 2017.
BTS’s ‘Love Myself’ Campaign

BTS became the first K-pop act to partner with UNICEF Korea to launch the Love Myself campaign. It promotes self-love and works to end violence against children and youth. They have worked to prevent violence and provide psychological support to children and adolescents in over 155 countries and regions.
The band, along with their agency Big Hit Music, became the largest private partner in UNICEF’s global child protection efforts. They raised approximately 9.2 billion KRW, which is an impressive amount and accounts for 15% of the fund’s total. The campaign runs youth support programmes and events worldwide. It is linked to BTS’s Love Yourself albums, sparking more than 50 million social media interactions. They set up the dedicated booths to educate fans on anti-bullying measures during their world tour.
Gratitude to the ARMY
BTS expressed gratitude to ARMY, whom they credit for creating the campaign with them. “We feel a great sense of fulfillment in knowing that the ‘LOVE MYSELF’ campaign has had a positive impact on society. This award is not so much given to us, but rather symbolizes encouragement and support for everyone who resonated with the message we spread through the campaign: Love yourself and love the world”. They declared they will continue striving ‘to be a BTS that contributes to warm and healthy change’.
BTS Returns After Hiatus
On the professional front, the band is back after their hiatus following their members’ mandatory military service. They have announced their new album release next spring. They have also confirmed a large-scale world tour to reconnect with fans around the world. Their last performance as a band was in October 2022.
