
Sound of Khumbha has earned a nomination at the 68th Grammy Awards, marking a historic global milestone for Indian devotional music. Inspired by the Mahakumbh Mela of Prayagraj, the 12-track album by Siddhant Bhatia, an acclaimed Indian classical singer and producer, captures the festival’s spiritual energy and centuries-old tradition. Bhatia brings together 50 international artists, creating a delightful fusion of Indian and Contemporary music.

Inside Siddhant Bhatia’s Nomination

Speaking about receiving one of the music industry’s most acclaimed recognitions, creator Siddhant Bhatia expressed his joy at the album’s nomination, which celebrates India’s culture and heritage.
The Grammy nomination has helped bring the spirituality of the festival to the world, which is a huge win for India. He further explains that though the album is deeply rooted in Indian culture, it is a global album as it has three languages: Sanskrit, Hindi, and English. The collaboration has natural soundscapes, including the sound festival atmosphere, temple bells, and rivers.
Indian American Rapper and singer, Raja Kumari, is also nominated as the featured artist on the album. Elaborating on the occasion, the City Slums singer shared her thoughts on the collaboration with Siddhant. She said the album carried “a spirit of devotion and reverence” for her. This is the second time Raja Kumari has been a Grammy-nominated artist, with her first being as a songwriter for the artist Iggy Azalea.
The Sounds of Kumbha album features a huge lineup of over 50 global artists, including spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Grammy winners and nominees like Raja Kumari, V. Selvaganesh, and Kanika Kapoor, and producers such as Siddhant Bhatia, Jim “Kimo” West, and Madi Das.
Other stellar collaborators include musicians like Kala Ramnath, Charu Suri, Aditya Gadhvi, and finally P.A. Deepak, who mixed and mastered the album.
About the Sound of Khumbha
Sound of Khumbha is a 12-track music album that encapsulates the divinity and tradition of the sacred Mahakumbh celebration. The album was commissioned by the government of Uttar Pradesh as a part of a cultural initiative to reiterate the message of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, “the world is one family”.
Siddhant Bhatia’s musical saga is created in collaboration with Network18, HistoryTV18, and will be globally distributed by Universal Music India.
